Igor Yakovlevich Krutoy (Russian: Игорь Яковлевич Крутой) is a famous Ukrainian-Russian music composer, performer, and producer. He was born on July 29, 1954.

Igor Krutoy has received many important awards. These include "Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation," "People's Artist of Russia," and "People's Artist of Ukraine." He has also won the ZD Awards and the Ovation Award.

He has worked with many well-known singers in both classical and pop music. Some of these artists are Anna Netrebko, Andrea Bocelli, Alla Pugacheva, Lara Fabian, and Dimash Qudaibergen.

Since 2002, he has helped organize the New Wave competition. This event helps young singers show their talent.

Early Life and Music Journey

Igor Krutoy was born on July 29, 1954, in Haivoron, Ukraine. His family was Jewish. When he was a child, he taught himself to play the accordion. He even played in his school band.

After finishing music school, Krutoy studied at Kirovograd music college. He graduated with high honors in 1974. He tried to get into the Kiev Conservatory but didn't succeed. For a year, he taught accordion lessons in his hometown.

The next year, Krutoy went to Nikolaev State Pedagogical Institute to study conducting. While there, he worked in restaurants. This is where he met singer Aleksander Serov, who became a close friend. Serov later performed many of Krutoy's songs.

In 1979, Igor Krutoy joined the Moscow Concert Orchestra "Panorama." In 1986, he finally got into the Saratov Conservatory to study composing. Around the same time, his friend Aleksander Serov became very famous with Krutoy's songs like "Inspiration." Krutoy received the Lenin Komsomol Prize in 1989.

In 2012, Igor Krutoy became the head of Music1.ru. He also invested in Net Element, a company that launched www.Music1.ru. This website was planned to be a major online music platform in countries like Russia and Ukraine.

Krutoy's Family Life

Igor Krutoy's father, Yakov Krutoy, worked at a factory. His mother, Svetlana, worked in a laboratory. His sister, Alla Krutaya, is a TV host in Ukraine.

Igor Krutoy has been married twice. His first wife was Yelena Krutaya, and they have a son named Nikolai, born in 1981.

Since 1995, he has been married to Olga Krutaya. Olga lives in New Jersey, USA, where she runs a business. Igor and Olga have a daughter named Aleksandra, born in 2003. Igor also has a stepdaughter named Victoriya, born in 1985, who is a singer.

Igor Krutoy leads ARS Records. This company owns a part of Muz-TV, a TV channel that plays Russian pop music videos. Since 2002, ARS Records has also helped organize the New Wave (competition) for young pop music performers. They have also signed artists like Sopho Khalvashi.

Krutoy Media Group

In 1999, Krutoy started "ARS Media." This group was later renamed Krutoy Media [ru] in 2012. It owns several radio stations, including Radio Dacha [ru], Radio Shanson [ru], Love Radio [ru], Radio Russkiy Hit, and Vostok FM [ru]. It also owns Moscow-only stations like Taxi FM [ru] and First Sport Radio [ru].

In 2013, Krutoy sold most of his shares in the company to Mikhail Gutseriev, but he kept 25% for himself.
