Valery Vladimirovich Rozov (born December 26, 1964 – died November 11, 2017) was a famous Russian BASE jumper. He was known for making incredible jumps from some of the world's highest mountains. Valery even set a world record for the highest BASE jump ever!
BASE jumping is an exciting sport where people jump from very tall places. These places can be Buildings, Antennas, Spans (like bridges), or Earth (like cliffs). Jumpers use a special parachute to land safely. Valery took this sport to new heights, literally!

Amazing Jumps and World Records
Valery Rozov completed many daring and record-breaking jumps during his career. He often used a special "wingsuit." A wingsuit is like a fabric suit that helps jumpers glide through the air, almost like a flying squirrel!
First Wingsuit Jumps
- July 22, 2004: Valery made the first-ever wingsuit BASE jump from a huge rock formation called Amin Brakk in Pakistan. This was a truly groundbreaking leap!
- February 25, 2008: He then completed the first wingsuit BASE jump from Cerro Torre. This is a very challenging mountain in South America.
Antarctic and Himalayan Adventures
- December 9, 2010: Valery Rozov became the first person to climb and then BASE jump from the 2,931 metres (9,616 ft) Ulvetanna Peak. This amazing feat happened all the way in Antarctica!
- May 25, 2012: He made the first BASE jump from the top of Shivling. This mountain is in the Himalayas. He jumped from an altitude of 6,420 metres (21,060 ft) while wearing his wingsuit.
Setting New World Records
- May 5, 2013: Valery made a record-breaking jump from Changtse. This is a peak near Mount Everest. He jumped from an incredible height of 7,220 metres (23,690 ft)! He used a special Red Bull wingsuit. He glided down to the Rongbuk glacier below. This jump set a new world record for the highest BASE jump ever.
- October 5, 2016: Valery broke his own record! He jumped from 7,700 metres (25,300 ft) on Cho Oyu. This mountain is also in the Himalayas. This jump was even higher than his previous record.
Valery's Final Jump
Valery Rozov sadly passed away on November 11, 2017. He was doing what he loved – jumping from a mountain. He was 52 years old. His final jump was from Ama Dablam mountain in Nepal. He jumped from a height of 6,812 metres (22,349 ft).
