Vallunaraju, also known as Wallunaraju, is a tall mountain in the country of Peru. It is part of the Andes mountain range. This specific part of the Andes is called the Cordillera Blanca.
The mountain stands about 5,686 meters (18,655 feet) high. It is located in the Ancash area of Peru. You can find it in Huaraz Province, which is near the city of Huaraz. Vallunaraju is located southwest of two other mountains, Ranrapalca and Ocshapalca.
The name Vallunaraju might come from the Ancash Quechua language. Some people think it combines words like walluy (to cut) or wallu (earless). The ending -rahu means snow, ice, or a mountain with snow. So, it could mean something like "snowy mountain with a cut" or "earless snowy mountain."
