Van der Merwe Miszewski Architects, often called VDMMA, is a company that designs buildings. They are located in Cape Town, South Africa. This company has created many different kinds of buildings, from homes to large offices and public spaces.

History of VDMMA

This architecture company was started in 1991. It was founded by two talented architects, Anya van der Merwe and Macio Miszewski.

How the Founders Met

Anya van der Merwe and Macio Miszewski first met at the University of Cape Town. They were both studying architecture there in the early 1980s.

Their Studies and Work Experience

Anya van der Merwe finished her architecture degree with high honors in 1984. She then moved to London, England, to study even more about architecture. She earned another diploma in 1987. Anya later left VDMMA as a director in 2016.

Macio Miszewski also earned his architecture degree from the University of Cape Town in 1984. He then went on to study at the same school in London as Anya, finishing in 1987.

Both Anya and Macio worked for two years at a company called Arup Associates in London. After that, they returned to South Africa in 1990. They opened their own architecture company, VDMMA, soon after.
