Vance Gilbert is an American singer and songwriter. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Vance is known for his folk music, which often tells stories.

He started his music journey as a jazz singer. Later, he switched to folk music. Vance became very popular in the Boston music scene. He even toured with famous singer Shawn Colvin. So far, he has made sixteen albums. Three of these albums were released by Philo/Rounder Records.

Vance grew up in Willingboro Township, New Jersey. He later went to college at Connecticut College.
