Vanessa Vivienne Lawrence (born 14 July 1962) is a British businessperson and geographer. She is well-known for her important work with maps and global information.
For 14 years, until April 2014, she was the leader of Ordnance Survey. This is Great Britain's official mapping agency. She was the first woman to hold this important job. She also held the role longer than anyone else in over a hundred years.
In 2015, Vanessa Lawrence became a global advisor for geospatial information. She works with the World Bank Group. This group helps countries around the world.
That same year, she joined the board of the Satellite Applications Catapult Ltd. She also became a director at Location International. She advises groups like the Urban Big Data Centre.
