Vanessa Rosalia Marquez (born December 21, 1968 – died August 30, 2018) was an American actress. She was best known for playing Nurse Wendy Goldman in the first three seasons of the TV show ER. She also had a memorable role as Ana Delgado in the 1988 movie Stand and Deliver.

Early Roles and TV Shows
After her success in Stand and Deliver, Vanessa appeared in a 1992 episode of Seinfeld called "The Cheever Letters". In this episode, she played a secretary. She also acted in the crime drama Blood In Blood Out (1993) and the independent film Twenty Bucks (1993).
On television, she made guest appearances on popular shows like Melrose Place in 1994 and Malcolm & Eddie in 1999. Her most famous TV role was as Nurse Wendy Goldman on ER, where she appeared from 1994 to 1997. Besides acting, Vanessa also showed her singing talent in the 2000 thriller movie Under Suspicion.

Vanessa Rosalia Marquez was born in Los Angeles County, California. Her father, John Marquez, passed away when she was very young, during the Vietnam War. She grew up in Montebello and went to Schurr High School.
Health Challenges
Later in her life, Vanessa faced several health challenges. These struggles made it very difficult for her to continue her acting career and often kept her at home.
Her Passing
Vanessa Marquez passed away on August 30, 2018, at her home in South Pasadena, California. Authorities had been called to her home for a "wellness check" to see if she was okay. During this incident, she was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
In 2021, the City of South Pasadena reached an agreement with Vanessa's mother, settling a lawsuit for $450,000.
