Veerle Baetens (born on January 24, 1978) is a talented Belgian actress, filmmaker, and singer. She is well-known for her main role as Elise / Alabama in the movie The Broken Circle Breakdown (2012). For this role, she won an award at the Tribeca Film Festival. She also played Detective Hannah Maes in the TV crime show Code 37 (2009–2012).
More recently, Veerle Baetens directed her first movie, When It Melts (2023). This film was nominated for a big award at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival.
