Veyo is a small community in western Washington County, Utah, United States. It is located right on the edge of the Dixie National Forest. In 2010, about 483 people lived there. The town is found along State Route 18, which is north of the city of St. George.
History of Veyo
Veyo became its own separate community in 1918. Before that, it was part of a nearby place called Gunlock.
There are a couple of ideas about how Veyo got its name:
- One story says the name is an acronym. This means each letter stands for a word: virtue, enterprise, youth, and order.
- Another idea is that the name combines the words verdure (meaning green plants or fresh growth) and youth.
- There is also a town named Veyo in Spain. That town is sometimes called La Peña, which means "the rock" or "rocky outcrop."

Veyo is located at an elevation of about 4,485 feet (1,367 meters) above sea level.

In 2010, a count of the population called a census showed that 483 people lived in Veyo. There were 193 homes in the area.
Most of the people living in Veyo were White (94.6%). A smaller number of people were from other groups, including:
