A Look Back: Vibe Australia's Journey
Vibe Australia started in 1993. It was founded by Gavin Jones at the Boomalli Aboriginal Artists Cooperative.
In June 2014, Vibe Australia's funding was stopped. This was part of government budget changes. The aim was to use money for Indigenous education programs instead. This meant the Deadly Awards also lost their funding.
On July 12, 2014, Gavin Jones passed away at 47 years old. Soon after, on July 14, 2014, Vibe Australia announced that all its projects had ended on June 30, 2014.

Deadly Sounds Radio Show
Deadly Sounds was a weekly radio program. It was shared with over 250 Aboriginal community radio stations. This show helped bring music and news to many communities.

Deadly Vibe was a national magazine. It focused on important topics like health, sports, music, and lifestyle. It was a great way to share information and stories.
In Vibe Magazine
In Vibe was a special magazine. It was made for Indigenous people in secure rehabilitation care. It also helped those who were at risk. Rhoda Roberts, an Indigenous broadcaster, helped host this magazine.
Move it Mob Style TV Show
Move it Mob Style was a children's television show. It taught kids about health, dance, and living a good lifestyle. The show was broadcast on NITV.
The first few seasons were filmed in Brisbane. Naomi Wenitong and Shannon Williams were the hosts. Later, the show moved to Sydney for Series 4. New hosts, Ghenoa Gela and Wakara Gondarra, took over. Series 4 started in March 2014.
The Deadlys Awards
Since 1995, Vibe Australia held "The Deadlys." These were the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Music, Sport, Entertainment and Community awards. They celebrated amazing achievements. The awards took place at the Sydney Opera House. They were shown on SBS television.
The Vibe 3on3 Event
The Vibe 3on3 was a national event. It combined music and sports. It aimed to encourage good health, well-being, and sportsmanship. 'Smiling' Dwayne Cross, a former Harlem Globetrotter, and Claude 'Starsky' Williams, a former Sydney Kings coach, hosted these events.
