About Vicar's Life
Early Career and Moving Abroad
Vicar studied art and theatre when he was young. He started his drawing career by creating political caricatures. These are funny drawings that make fun of politicians or political ideas.
In 1960, Vicar moved to Spain. There, he worked on different kinds of illustrations. He began drawing comics in 1966.
Drawing Disney Comics
Five years later, in 1971, Vicar started drawing Disney comics. He worked for a company in Denmark called Gutenberghus. This company is now known as the Egmont Group.
Vicar moved back to Chile in 1975. His work on Disney comics became very important over the years.
Vicar's Studio and Legacy
Soon, Vicar had his own studio. He had several other artists and inkers working with him. They helped him create many comic pages.
Vicar himself wrote only two of the stories he drew. These were The Winter Contest from 1986 and A Lucky Duck from 1997. Vicar and his team were very productive. They produced up to 200 pages of comics each year.
Vicar passed away on January 3, 2012. He had been battling leukemia for a long time.
