Brazil won the World Cup, which was their first time ever winning the title. It was also the first time a non-European team won the World Cup in Europe. In the 1966 World Cup, Brazil faced some tough matches. They lost their second game against Hungary. For their crucial final group match against Portugal, Feola made many changes to the team. He changed the entire defense, including the goalkeeper. Even though Pelé was still recovering from injuries, he was brought back to play. Brazil was eliminated in the first round of the tournament.

Overall, under Feola's command, the Brazilian national team played 74 games. They won 55 games, tied 13, and lost only 6 times.
