The Vicha Glacier (which means "lednik Vicha" in Bulgarian) is a large river of ice found in Antarctica. It is about 27 kilometers (17 miles) long and 6 kilometers (4 miles) wide. You can find it in a place called Gromshin Heights, on the east side of the northern Sentinel Range. This area is part of the Ellsworth Mountains.
The Vicha Glacier is located northeast of the Newcomer Glacier and southwest of the Yamen Glacier. It flows south along the eastern slopes of Mount Ulmer and Mount Ojakangas. Then, it turns southeast near Mount Washburn. It continues flowing east of Mount Cornwell and Mount Warren, and southwest of Branishte Peak. Finally, the Vicha Glacier joins the huge Rutford Ice Stream south of Foros Spur, flowing together with the Newcomer Glacier.
How Vicha Glacier Got Its Name
This glacier is named after an old fortress called Vicha. This fortress was located in northeastern Bulgaria a long time ago.
