Vicosoprano used to be a town, or municipality, in Switzerland. It was located in the Maloja area of the Graubünden region. Vicosoprano was the biggest village in the Val Bregaglia valley. Since 2010, it has been part of the larger town of Bregaglia.

History of Vicosoprano
Vicosoprano is a very old place. The first time it was written about was in the year 1096. Back then, its name was Vicus Supranus.
Geography of Vicosoprano
Vicosoprano covers an area of about 54 square kilometers (21 square miles). A small part of this land, about 8.6%, is used for farming. Forests cover about 25.6% of the area.
About 1% of the land has buildings or roads on it. The rest, a large 64.7%, is made up of things like rivers, glaciers, and mountains. This means it's not used for farming or building.
Vicosoprano is the largest village in the Bergell part of the Maloja district. The main village of Vicosoprano is about 1,067 meters (3,501 feet) above sea level. It also includes smaller settlements called Roticcio and Pongello. In 1971, the village of Casaccia became part of Vicosoprano.
On January 1, 2010, Vicosoprano joined with several other towns. These included Bondo, Castasegna, Soglio, and Stampa. Together, they formed the new town called Bregaglia.
People and Population
In 2008, Vicosoprano had 445 people living there. About 9.7% of these people were from other countries. Over the ten years before 2008, the number of people living in Vicosoprano went down by about 10.2%.
In 2000, there were slightly more females (51.6%) than males (48.4%) in Vicosoprano. The population included many children and teenagers. About 15.6% were under 9 years old. Another 7.9% were 10 to 14, and 3.3% were 15 to 19.
Most adults were between 20 and 59 years old. There were also many older people. About 7.7% were 60 to 69, and 8.9% were 70 to 79. A small number, 4.2%, were 80 to 89, and 1.6% were 90 to 99.

The population grew a lot around 1960. This was because a dam was being built at Albigna lake, bringing more workers to the area.
