The Victoria Bug Zoo is a cool mini-zoo in downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. It's super easy to find, just one block from the famous Fairmont Empress Hotel. This special zoo is part of a bigger group called International Bug Zoos Inc. The Victoria location was sold in 2014.
Explore Amazing Insects at the Victoria Bug Zoo
The Bug Zoo is home to about 50 different kinds of insects, arachnids (like spiders!), and other cool creatures called arthropods. It has the biggest collection of tropical insects in all of North America!
You can even see Canada's biggest ant farm here, full of busy leaf-cutter ants. The zoo shows off many different insects and their many-legged friends. This lets people see animals they might never find in the wild. A main goal of the Victoria Bug Zoo is to help people feel less scared of these smaller creatures. They do this in a safe and fun way.
What You Can Do at the Bug Zoo
Visitors can explore the zoo on their own. Or, they can join a tour guide. With a guide, you can learn lots about the insect world.
Even better, with a tour guide, you can hold and touch different types of species! These include tarantulas, cockroaches, scorpions, walking sticks, millipedes, and praying mantis. It's a great chance to get up close with these amazing animals.
