Viktor Antonovych Matviyenko (Ukrainian: Віктор Антонович Матвієнко; November 9, 1948 – November 29, 2018) was a famous football player and coach from the Soviet Union and Ukraine. He was known for being a strong defender on the field.

Viktor Matviyenko's Football Journey
Viktor Matviyenko was born in Zaporizhzhia, which was part of the Soviet Union at the time. He grew up loving football and became a professional player. Later, he also became a football coach, sharing his knowledge with new generations of players.
His Amazing Playing Career
Viktor Matviyenko played for several football clubs during his career. He started with FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhia from 1966 to 1967. Then he moved to SC Odesa for two years. He returned to FC Metalurh Zaporizhzhia briefly in 1970.
His most successful time was with Dynamo Kyiv. He played there from 1970 to 1977. During these years, he played in 188 matches and scored 7 goals. He finished his playing career at Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk in 1978.
Winning Big Trophies
Viktor Matviyenko was part of some very successful teams. With Dynamo Kyiv, he won the Soviet Top League four times. This was the top football league in the Soviet Union. He also helped his team win the Soviet Cup in 1974.

He even coached teams in Moldova and Uzbekistan. His last coaching role was as an assistant at FC Stal Alchevsk from 2001 to 2002.
Viktor Matviyenko passed away on November 29, 2018, just 20 days after his 70th birthday. He is remembered as a talented player and a dedicated coach.
