History of Villa Giardino
Early Settlers and Ranches
Long ago, the area where Villa Giardino now stands was home to the Comechingones people. They were the first inhabitants of this land. Later, Spanish settlers arrived. They built two large farms, known as estancias. These farms were called El Molino and Altos de San Pedro.
Growth with the Railroad
In the 1800s, something very important happened: the railroad came to the region. This helped the area grow a lot. It became a busy place for farming. People also started to dig for limestone here. Limestone is a type of rock used in building and other industries.
How Villa Giardino Got Its Name
The town is named after a man named Juan Giardino. He owned the Altos de San Pedro ranch. Juan Giardino was a key person in developing this small farming village into a more organized town. He helped it grow and become the Villa Giardino we know today.
