Vincent Joseph Boryla (born March 11, 1927 – died March 27, 2016) was an American basketball star. People called him "Moose." He was a player, a coach, and an executive in the sport.

Early Life and Olympic Gold
Vince Boryla was born in East Chicago, Indiana. He went to East Chicago Washington High School. After high school, he played college basketball. He played for the University of Notre Dame and the University of Denver.
A big moment for Boryla was in 1948. He was part of the United States basketball team. This team won the gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London. It was a huge achievement for him and his country.
Playing in the NBA
Boryla played professional basketball for the New York Knicks. He played for them in the early 1950s. He was a forward, known for his strong play.
In 1951, Boryla was chosen for the 1951 NBA All-Star Game. This means he was one of the best players in the league. He scored nine points in that special game. He also helped the Knicks reach the NBA Finals in 1951 and 1953.
Coaching and Management
After his playing career, Boryla became a coach. He coached the New York Knicks from 1956 to 1958. He led the team to 80 wins during his time as coach.
Later, Boryla moved into basketball management. He became a general manager for different teams. He worked for the Denver Nuggets when they were in the American Basketball Association (ABA). He also worked for the Utah Stars.
When the Nuggets joined the NBA, Boryla rejoined them. He continued to work as a general manager. In 1984, he won the NBA Executive of the Year Award. This award goes to the best team executive in the league.
Later Life and Legacy
Vince Boryla passed away on March 27, 2016. He was 89 years old. He died in Denver, Colorado due to health problems from pneumonia.
Boryla received many honors for his basketball career. He was added to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. In 1984, he was also added to the National Polish-American Hall of Fame. His contributions to basketball as a player, coach, and executive are remembered.
