Vincent Boreing (born November 24, 1839 – died September 16, 1903) was a U.S. Representative for the state of Kentucky. This means he was a person elected to represent his state in the United States Congress.

About Vincent Boreing
Vincent Boreing was born in 1839 near Jonesborough, Tennessee. When he was about eight years old, in 1847, he moved with his father to Laurel County, Kentucky.
He went to school at Laurel Seminary in London, Kentucky. He also studied at Tusculum College in Greeneville, Tennessee.
Military Service
During the American Civil War, Vincent Boreing joined the Union Army. He became a private in Company A of the 24th Regiment Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. This happened on November 1, 1861.
Later, he was promoted to first lieutenant. This promotion was given because he showed great skill and dedication.
Early Career and Business
After the war, Vincent Boreing worked in public service and business. From 1868 to 1872, he was the county superintendent of public schools. This job meant he helped manage the schools in his county.
In 1875, he started a newspaper called Mountain Echo in London, Kentucky. This newspaper was important because it was the first Republican newspaper in southeastern Kentucky. It shared news and ideas from the Republican Party.
During the 1880s, Boreing held several important positions. In 1886, he served as a county judge. The next year, in 1887, he became the president of the Cumberland Valley Land Co.. In 1888, he was the president of the First National Bank of London. He also led the Grand Army of the Republic in Kentucky in 1889. This was a group for Union Army veterans.
Serving in Congress
Vincent Boreing was elected to the United States House of Representatives. He was a member of the Republican Party. He served in the Fifty-sixth, Fifty-seventh, and Fifty-eighth Congresses.
His time in Congress began on March 4, 1899. He served until his death on September 16, 1903. He passed away in London, Kentucky. Vincent Boreing was buried at Pine Grove Cemetery.
