Vladimir "Vanja" Grbić (Serbian Cyrillic: Владимир Вања Грбић) is a famous Serbian former volleyball player. He was born on December 14, 1970. Standing at 193 centimeters (about 6 feet 4 inches) tall, he played as a passer-side attacker. Many people consider him one of the best volleyball players ever. He was even welcomed into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2011.

Amazing Volleyball Career

Olympic Success

Vladimir Grbić had a fantastic career playing for his country. He played for the national volleyball team of FR Yugoslavia. With them, he won a bronze medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics. This was a huge achievement for the team.

Four years later, at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, he helped his team win a gold medal! This was a truly golden moment in his career. He also played in the 2004 Summer Olympics for Serbia and Montenegro, where his team finished fifth.

Awards and Recognition

Because of his amazing skills, the Yugoslav Olympic Committee named Grbić the best sportsman of the year twice. He received this honor in both 1996 and 2000. He also won the Golden Badge award in 1999 and 2000. This award recognized him as the best athlete in Yugoslavia.

Grbić played in 242 games for his national team. He retired from playing in 2009. He was well-known for his powerful spikes. He was also excellent at passing the ball on the court. People admired him for his great sportsmanship too.

Family Life

Vladimir Grbić comes from a family of talented athletes. His father, Miloš Grbić, also played volleyball. He was a member of the Yugoslavian national team.

Vladimir's younger brother, Nikola, is also a famous volleyball player. Nikola played on the national team too. Like Vladimir, Nikola is also in the International Volleyball Hall of Fame. Vladimir's wife, Sara, was a world champion in karate.
