Vladimir Iosifovich Resin (born 21 February 1936) is a Russian politician. He served as the acting Mayor of Moscow for a short time in 2010. Before that, he was the first deputy mayor.

About Vladimir Resin

Vladimir Resin was born in Minsk on February 21, 1936. Minsk is now the capital city of Belarus. He studied at the Moscow State Mining University and finished in 1958.

Early Career

After college, Mr. Resin worked in the fields of construction and mining. These jobs involve building things and digging for resources. In 1988, he began working for the city government of Moscow.

Role in Moscow Government

Mr. Resin became the head of architecture and construction for Moscow. This meant he was in charge of how buildings were designed and built in the city.

In September 2010, he became the acting Mayor of Moscow. This happened after the previous mayor, Yury Luzhkov, left office. An "acting" mayor is someone who takes charge temporarily. Mr. Resin served as acting mayor for about a month. After this, Sergey Sobyanin became the new mayor.

Mr. Resin continued to serve as the first deputy mayor for over a year. He is a member of the United Russia political party.

Member of the State Duma

In December 2011, Vladimir Resin was elected to the State Duma. The State Duma is like the main law-making body in Russia. He has been a member of the Duma since then. In the current 8th session of the Duma, he is the oldest member.
