The "Blitz Brothers" Project

Promoting Chess
Their goal was to make chess more popular around the world. They wanted to attract more people and sponsors to the game. They created a website for the contest. People could register to see pictures and vote for their favorite participants.
A Unique Contest
While some people thought the contest was controversial, most of the pictures were sent in by the participants themselves. A group of chess Grandmasters, including Nigel Short, helped judge the contest. Some female chess players, like Jennifer Shahade, also supported the idea. Famous chess players like Natalija Pogonina, Maria Manakova, Almira Skripchenko, and Elisabeth Pähtz were featured in the contest.
