Vojin Dimitrijević (Serbian: Војин Димитријевић; 9 July 1932 – 5 October 2012) was a very respected professor and thinker. He was known for being a strong voice for human rights in Serbia. He was also an expert in international law, which are the rules that countries follow when dealing with each other.

Life and Work
Vojin Dimitrijević was born on July 9, 1932, in a city called Rijeka. At that time, Rijeka was part of Italy. Today, it is in Croatia.
Education and Teaching
He studied law at the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law. He finished his first degree in 1956. Later, in 1965, he earned his highest degree, a doctorate. He then became a professor at the same university in 1960. He taught there for many years.
In 1998, he had to stop teaching early. This happened because he disagreed with a new law about universities. He felt the law was unfair.
Helping Others and Human Rights
Vojin Dimitrijević was the director of the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights. This was a special group in Serbia that worked to protect people's rights. He led this group from when it started in 1995. This center often disagreed with the government at the time.
After 2005, he taught law at another university in Belgrade. He was also a guest professor at universities in other countries. These included Virginia in the USA, Oslo in Norway, and Lund in Sweden.
International Roles
Mr. Dimitrijević worked with many important international groups. From 2000, he was part of the Venice Commission. This group helps countries make fair laws. From 2001, he was a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. This court helps countries solve disagreements peacefully.
He was also a leader in the International Commission of Jurists. This group works to make sure laws are fair around the world. He was a member and vice-chairman of the UN Human Rights Committee. This committee helps protect human rights for everyone. He even served as a special judge at the International Court of Justice for a few years. This is the highest court of the United Nations.
Other Important Roles
Vojin Dimitrijević was the president of the International Law Association in Yugoslavia. He also helped the Serbian government fight against corruption. He was one of the people who started the Serbian Forum for International Relations. This group helps Serbia connect with other countries. He was also a member of the Serbian PEN Centre, which supports writers.
He received special honors from universities like McGill University and the University of Kent. He was also given a special award from France, called the French Legion of Honour.
Passing Away
Vojin Dimitrijević passed away suddenly in Belgrade on October 5, 2012. He was 80 years old.
