Václav Drobný (born September 9, 1980 – died December 28, 2012) was a Czech footballer. He played as a defender. Václav was well-known for his time at Sparta Prague. He also played for their youth team. His career took him to clubs in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, and Germany. He also had a short loan spell with Aston Villa in England.

Playing for Clubs
Václav Drobný played for several football clubs. He was on loan at FK Jablonec nad Nisou 97 during the 2005–06 season. He also played for RC Strasbourg, Chmel Blšany, and Sparta Prague.
He spent the 2004–05 season on loan at Aston Villa. This team plays in the Premier League in England. However, he did not play any first-team games for Aston Villa.
In 2005, Drobný left Strasbourg to join Sparta Prague. After that, he played for Jablonec 97, Augsburg, and FC Spartak Trnava. He left Spartak Trnava in 2009.
The next year, Drobný signed with Bohemians Praha. He played his first game for them on March 20, 2010. His team won 3–2 against Slovan Liberec. He played for 80 minutes in that game.
Playing for His Country
Václav Drobný was part of the Czech team that won the UEFA U-21 Championships in 2002. This was a big achievement for the team.
He also played for the senior Czech Republic national team. His first game for them was against Japan. Even though he played for his country, he did not get a spot in the Euro 2004 tournament. He played in two international games for the Czech Republic.
A Sad Farewell
Václav Drobný passed away on December 28, 2012. He was at the ski resort Špindlerův Mlýn. He had an accident while bobsleighing.
