History of Wadley
Wadley got its name from William Morill Wadley, who was an important person in the railroad business.
In 1876, the Georgia General Assembly (which is like the state's law-making group) officially made Wadley a "town." This means it got its own local government. Later, in 1970, it became an official "city," which often means it grew bigger and got more services.
