Waldstatt is a small town, also called a municipality, located in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden in Switzerland. It is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and quiet way of life.

A Look at Waldstatt's History
Waldstatt was first mentioned in old records way back in 1374. At that time, it was called Ober Walstatt. Later, in 1415, its name changed to Wallstatt. This shows that the town has been around for a very long time!
Where is Waldstatt Located?
Waldstatt covers an area of about 6.7 square kilometers (about 2.6 square miles). A big part of this land, around 62%, is used for farming. About 26% of the area is covered by forests, which means there are lots of trees and green spaces.
The town itself, along with several smaller groups of houses called hamlets and many farmhouses, make up the municipality. It's a mix of town life and peaceful countryside.
