Walid Mostafa (born Walid Mostafa Hasan) was an Egyptian businessman who worked in media. He was born on January 15, 1972, in Giza, Egypt, and passed away on May 3, 2025.
He was known for leading NRJ EGYPT Radio, one of the first French radio stations to broadcast in Arabic. Walid Mostafa also started the Youm7 newspaper in 2007 and the Al-Nahar television channel in 2011. He worked in many areas of media, including TV, radio, newspapers, marketing, and advertising.

Early Life and Education
Walid Mostafa was born in Giza, Egypt. He learned at home until high school. For his last two years of high school, he studied in Florida, USA, as part of a student exchange program.
He later graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Cairo University. He also earned a special diploma from the American University in Cairo.
Media Career and Achievements
Walid Mostafa had a long and successful career in media. He held important roles in several companies.
Early Roles in Marketing
From 1996 to 1998, Mostafa was a marketing manager at Arab Egyptian Studios Company Platouh. After that, he worked as the director of sales and marketing for Promoters Company For Publicity and Advertising from 1998 to 2000.
From 2000 to 2011, he was a managing director and partner for High Class Media and Elite magazine. During the same time, he also worked as a managing director and partner at Nile PR Company. He helped produce many TV shows and drama series, including the TV series Adam in 2007.
Leading NRJ EGYPT Radio
Walid Mostafa was the chairman of Sky Media Production, which owns NRJ EGYPT. This radio station brought a new way of broadcasting to Egypt. NRJ Egypt aims its programs at young people.
It is the Arabic version of NRJ International, a large radio network. NRJ broadcasts in Europe and many other countries worldwide. NRJ Egypt offers programs in Arabic, English, and French, along with news and popular trends.
Founding Al-Nahar Television
In 2011, Mostafa started Trenta Media Production, which owns the Al-Nahar television channels. He set up the main offices and studios for the Al-Nahar television network. He also helped create its board of directors.
He was in charge of reviewing new TV show ideas and planning how to promote them. The main Al-Nahar channel was very popular in 2011. By January 2014, the Al-Nahar network had grown to five channels and was ranked third in viewership.
Developing Youm7 Newspaper
From 2007 to 2013, Walid Mostafa was the chairman and managing director of Al-Youm El-Sabea, also known as Youm7 newspaper. This company focused on journalism, publishing, and advertising.
Al-Youm El-Sabea grew into a major media organization. It included a website, a printed newspaper, and other media forms. The Youm7 website won the Forbes award for two years in a row (2010–2011) as one of the most important Arabic websites.
Mostafa also helped expand Youm7's services to smartphones. He created partnerships with telecom companies in countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Youm7 became one of the top three independent printed newspapers.
Personal Life
Walid Mostafa Hasan was the only son of Mostafa Hasan. His father was a main advisor to the Presidency of the Republic National Councils.
Walid Mostafa had two daughters. His first daughter, Amina, was from his first marriage. His second daughter, Tala, was with his second wife, the Lebanese singer Carole Samaha. They were married in Cyprus in 2013.
Walid Mostafa passed away on May 3, 2025, at the age of 53.
