Discover Walliston's History
Walliston has an interesting past! Before 1949, it was a special stop along the Upper Darling Range Railway line. This railway helped people and goods travel around the area.
How Walliston Got Its Name
The suburb was named after John and Emma Wallis. They were the very first settlers to arrive in this area, back in the 1880s. The Railway Department officially gave the name "Walliston" in 1915. It's cool how places get named after the people who first lived there!
Walliston's Changing Borders
In 2008, the local council, called the Kalamunda shire, made some changes to Walliston's boundaries. This meant that Wallis Lane and the original Wallis family home, which is still lived in by their descendants, were no longer officially part of the Walliston suburb.
