Walter is a super friendly Muppet character. He first appeared in the movie The Muppets in 2011. Peter Linz brings Walter to life. Walter is one of the main characters in the film. He stars alongside Kermit the Frog and the rest of the Muppets. Walter also appears in the 2014 movie, Muppets Most Wanted.
Many critics and fans really liked Walter. They especially praised his story in The Muppets. People said he was a great new addition. They thought he fit right in with the classic Muppets.

Walter's Amazing Story
From Fan to Muppet
Walter grew up in a town called Smalltown. He loved watching The Muppet Show all the time. He collected lots of cool Muppet stuff. The Muppets truly inspired him as he grew up. He even calls himself the "world’s biggest Muppet fan."
Later, Walter went on vacation to Los Angeles. There, he helped the Muppets. He helped them become popular again. He also helped them get their studios back. An oil baron named Tex Richman had taken over.
Finding His True Self
During the movie, Walter started to wonder about himself. He had always thought he was a human. But he felt a very strong connection to the Muppets. He wondered if he was actually a Muppet too.
This feeling led him to sing a special song. It was called "Man or Muppet." This song even won an Academy Award! In the song, a human version of Walter appears. He is played by actor Jim Parsons. This part of the movie is very important. It helps Walter figure out who he is.
At the end of the movie, Walter realizes he is a Muppet. He discovers his special talent is whistling. He then joins the Muppets as their newest member!
What Makes Walter Special
In 2010, an article in Entertainment Weekly described Walter. It said he was a sweet and a bit shy. He was also the best friend of Gary, played by Jason Segel. Both Walter and Gary were huge Muppet fans. Walter was so excited to see Kermit, he would faint!
Walter had a bit of a self-confidence problem. He felt different because he was the only one like him. That is, until he met the Muppets. His big dream was to meet them. He wanted to be around people who were like him. When Walter and Gary learned the Muppet Theater was in danger, they acted fast. They helped reunite Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the whole group. Their goal was to put on a big show to save the theater.

Walter has appeared in many places. He was on posters and in pictures to promote the movies. He also appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon with Jason Segel. Walter was part of the Muppets group in Cee Lo Green's song "All I Need Is Love" in 2012. You can also find him in Kirk Scroggs’ "Tales Of A Sixth-Grade Muppet" book series.
