Walter Peak is a tall mountain located in the beautiful Canadian Rockies. It is also known as Lyell 4 or L4. This peak is one of five distinct subpeaks that make up the larger Mount Lyell (Canada).
Walter Peak stands right on the border between the Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. It was officially named in 1972 by Sydney R. Vallance. The peak honors Walter Feuz, who was an important early mountain guide in the Rockies.
Walter Feuz (1894-1986) was a very skilled mountain guide. He learned all about climbing and guiding from his older brothers, Edward Jr. and Ernest. Even though he started guiding at a young age, he became a well-known figure in the mountain community.
