Walterville is a small, quiet community in Lane County, Oregon, United States. It's located about 6 miles (10 km) east of Springfield. You can find it near the beautiful McKenzie River. Walterville is an "unincorporated community," which means it doesn't have its own city government like a big city does.

A Look Back at Walterville's History
The Walterville post office opened in 1875. A rancher named George Millican named it after his son, Walter. The Millican family has lived in this area since the 1860s. Their family farm, called the Millican Century Farm, is still running today! George Millican also has a town named after him, called Millican, in Deschutes County.
Walterville Pond and Canal
Walterville has a special place called Walterville Pond. It's a 70-acre (28-hectare) pond that stores water. People love to visit it for fishing and watching birds. The pond is part of the Walterville Canal, which was built in 1911 by the Eugene Water & Electric Board (EWEB). This canal helps create hydropower (electricity from water). It also helps pump water from the McKenzie River to Eugene for people to drink.
