What's in a Name?
The name Wamboin likely comes from an Aboriginal language. It probably comes from the Wiradjuri language word wambuuwayn. This word means "large grey kangaroo." Even though Wamboin is not in Wiradjuri country, the name has stuck. The local Ngunnawal people have a different word for kangaroo, which is buru.

Wamboin Community Association
The Wamboin Community Association (WCA) is very important. It offers many services to the community. The WCA also speaks for the community on important issues. They hold a market at the community hall on Bingley Way. This market happens on the third Saturday of each month, except in winter.
