How Wamuran Basin Got Its Name
The name "Wamuran" comes from a local Aboriginal man. His name was Menvil Wamuran, but people also knew him as Jacky Delaney.
Early School Days
A school called Basin State School opened its doors on March 2, 1920. It helped educate children in the area for many years. The school closed down in 1957. People sometimes called it Wamuran Basin State School, even though its official name was Basin State School.
