Warabrook is a suburb located in the north-western part of Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia. It's about 8 kilometers (5 miles) away from Newcastle's main city center. Warabrook is part of the City of Newcastle, which is like its local government area.
This area is mostly where people live in homes. But it also has a shopping center, a place for older people to live, and an area with small factories and businesses. Long ago, Warabrook was a small farming area. It even had a place for cattle and a meat processing facility. Today, Warabrook is home to the Eucalyptus Circuit Reserve, a park with a path for bikes and fun play equipment for kids.
Getting Around Warabrook
Train Services
Warabrook railway station opened in 1997. It helps people travel to the nearby University of Newcastle in Callaghan and to Warabrook itself. Trains on the Hunter Line stop at this station.
The railway line here is part of a much older line. It connects Newcastle to Maitland. This was the first part of the Main North line. This important line goes all the way from Sydney to the New England region. It first opened way back in 1857.
Bus Connections
Warabrook also has bus services. Two different bus routes pass through the suburb. These buses connect Warabrook to other areas like Jesmond and Newcastle's city center.
