Waterhen Lake is a beautiful lake located in Manitoba, Canada. It's about 300 kilometers (186 miles) north of Winnipeg, the capital city of Manitoba. This lake sits right between two much larger lakes: Lake Winnipeg and Lake Winnipegosis.
Where Waterhen Lake Gets Its Water
Waterhen Lake is an important part of a bigger water system. It receives water from two rivers. These are the West Waterhen River and the Little Waterhen River. Both of these rivers flow north into Waterhen Lake. They start from Long Island Bay, which is at the southeast end of Lake Winnipegosis.
How Waterhen Lake Connects to Other Lakes
After filling Waterhen Lake, the water continues its journey. The Waterhen River flows out of Waterhen Lake. This river then travels south for about 22 kilometers (13.5 miles). It eventually empties into the northern part of Lake Manitoba. This means Waterhen Lake acts like a link between Lake Winnipegosis and Lake Manitoba.
