Waterloo Creek is a cool stream in the United States. It's about 9.7 miles (15.6 kilometers) long and flows into a bigger river called the Upper Iowa River. This creek is special because it's a great place for fishing, especially for trout! It starts in Minnesota and then flows into Iowa.

Where Does Waterloo Creek Flow?

Waterloo Creek begins its journey in Houston County, Minnesota. At first, it's called Bee Creek. It flows mostly southeast, passing near the city of Spring Grove, Minnesota.

As it continues its path, Bee Creek crosses the border into Iowa. Once it enters Allamakee County, Iowa, it changes its name to Waterloo Creek. From there, it flows generally north to south. It joins with another stream called Bear Creek just before it empties into the Upper Iowa River.

A road called Iowa Highway 76 runs alongside the creek for a while. The only town you'll find right next to Waterloo Creek is Dorchester, Iowa.

Why Is Waterloo Creek Important?

Waterloo Creek is known as one of the best places in Iowa for trout fishing. Many people enjoy coming here to catch fish.

Protecting the Creek

In recent years, a lot of hard work has been done to help the creek stay healthy. People have been working to restore it. This means they've removed plants that don't naturally belong there and have helped the creek flow in its original, winding paths. This restoration work helps keep the water clean and makes the creek a better home for fish and other wildlife.
