Waterloo Maple Inc. is a Canadian software company. It is based in Waterloo, Ontario. The company is known by its trade name, Maplesoft. They are famous for creating the Maple computer algebra system. They also make MapleSim, which is software for building and testing models of physical systems.

The Story of Maplesoft
How Maplesoft Started
Waterloo Maple Inc. first began as "Waterloo Maple Software." This was in April 1988. It was started by Keith Geddes and Gaston Gonnet. Both were professors at the University of Waterloo. They worked in the computer science department.
Early Challenges and Changes
From 1989 to 1990, Tim Bray was the part-time CEO. He helped the company through tough financial times. Gaston Gonnet, one of the founders, left the company in 1994. He sold his remaining shares in 2001.
Moving Headquarters
On April 20, 1998, Waterloo Maple Inc. moved its offices. They moved to the Seagram Museum building in Waterloo. This building used to be a distillery.
In March 2003, the company announced a big change. They would now be known mainly as Maplesoft. A few months later, in May 2003, Maplesoft moved its main office again. They moved to the Waterloo Tech Campus. They started working there on September 2, 2003.
Becoming Part of Cybernet Systems
On July 30, 2009, Maplesoft announced a major change. A company called Cybernet Systems Co., Ltd. was going to buy Maplesoft. This deal was completed by September 1, 2009. After this, some jobs at Maplesoft were changed.
New Services and Spin-offs
In June 2012, Maplesoft started offering new services. They began helping companies with special computer models. These services included creating models and running simulations.
In June 2018, Maplesoft created a new, separate company. This new company, called DigitalEd, took over Maplesoft's Möbius and Maple T.A. products.
On December 19, 2018, Dr. Laurent Bernardin became the new CEO and President of Maplesoft. He took over on January 1, 2019. The previous CEO, Jim Cooper, moved to lead DigitalEd.

- Maplesoft France: This office opened in Paris, France, on January 20, 2015.
- Maplesoft Germany: An office opened in Aachen, Germany, on March 30, 2010. It became Maplesoft Europe GmbH in 2011.
- Maplesoft Korea: Cybernet Systems Korea became the main company selling Maplesoft products in Korea on July 15, 2012.
- Maplesoft Europe Limited: This office opened in Cambridge, UK, on November 18, 2013. It helps manage Maplesoft's work across Europe.
- Maplesoft China: A new office opened in Shanghai, China, on February 20, 2019.
- Maplesoft Japan: A new office opened in Tokyo, Japan, on February 12, 2020. It now sells Maplesoft products directly in Japan.
