Watson is a small city located in Desha County, Arkansas, in the United States. It is a quiet place with a history tied to the local landscape and old railroad lines. In 2020, about 185 people lived there.

Exploring the Delta Heritage Trail
A special trail called the Delta Heritage Trail passes right through Watson. This trail used to be a railroad line. In 1992, the Union Pacific Railroad stopped using this line. The land, which was about 73 miles (117 km) long, was given to the State of Arkansas.
Trail Construction and Nature Views
Parts of this old railroad line have been turned into the Delta Heritage Trail. The section of the trail near Watson is still being built. When finished, it will offer amazing views of nature. North of Watson, the trail goes through a wilderness area.
From the Yancopin Bridge, you can see the Arkansas River. From the Benzal Bridge, you can see the White River. Between these two bridges, the trail is planned to go through an old-growth hardwood forest. This forest is part of the Trusten Holder State Wildlife Management Area.

History of School Districts
For many years, Watson had its own school district. In 1972, the Watson School District joined with another district to form the Delta Special School District. Later, on July 1, 2004, the Delta Special School District merged into the McGehee School District. This means students from Watson now go to schools within the McGehee system.
