Waverly is located next to the White River. Because of this, the community has faced challenges from floods. A big flood happened most recently in 2008. After this, Morgan County bought much of the land. They turned it into a fun place for people to visit.
Today, you can visit Old Town Waverly Park. This park is on the original site of the old village. The old Waverly Bank building has been saved and fixed up. It now works like a museum, showing what life was like long ago. There's also an area for traditional arts. Here, you can see people demonstrating old skills like blacksmithing. A paved trail, about two miles long, follows the river. It's perfect for walking or biking.
