Wayne is a city located in Wayne County, Nebraska, in the United States. It's the main city of Wayne County, also known as its county seat. Wayne is also home to Wayne State College, a well-known college. In 2020, about 5,973 people lived here.

A Look Back: Wayne's History
Wayne was started in 1881. This happened when the Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway train tracks reached this area. The city was named after Wayne County, which it is a part of.

Wayne is located in the state of Nebraska. The United States Census Bureau says the city covers a total area of about 2.25 square miles (5.83 km2). Most of this area, about 2.21 square miles (5.72 km2), is land. A small part, about 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2), is water.
