Webb Canyon is a beautiful valley located in Grand Teton National Park in the state of Wyoming, United States. This amazing place is known for its stunning views and interesting history. It's a great spot for exploring nature and seeing how powerful glaciers shaped the land long ago.

Discovering Webb Canyon

Webb Canyon is found in the northwestern part of Wyoming. It sits south of a mountain called Owl Peak. The entrance to the canyon is close to the northern end of Jackson Lake, a large and famous lake in the park.

How Webb Canyon Was Formed

Webb Canyon was carved out by giant sheets of ice called glaciers. These glaciers were incredibly powerful. They slowly moved through the area, grinding away rocks and soil. About 15,000 years ago, at the end of the last glacial maximum (which was the coldest time of the last Ice Age), these glaciers started to melt and retreat.

As the ice melted, it left behind a special type of valley. This valley has a distinct "U" shape, which is a clear sign that glaciers were once there. Imagine a giant scoop digging through the land – that's how a U-shaped valley is made!

Exploring Webb Canyon

A stream called Moose Creek flows through a big part of Webb Canyon. This creek winds its way through the valley, adding to its natural beauty.

For those who love to hike, there's a trail called the Webb Canyon Trail. This trail goes all the way through the canyon. It's about 9 miles (14 km) long and leads to a place called Moose Basin Divide. Hiking this trail is a fantastic way to experience the canyon's wilderness and see its unique features up close.
