Wedderburn is a suburb located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is about 57 kilometres south-west of the main city centre of Sydney. Wedderburn is part of the City of Campbelltown area and the Macarthur region.

Wedderburn is special because it is the only suburb in Campbelltown that sits on the eastern side of the Georges River. The area has deep valleys and lots of trees, making it feel more like a small country town than a busy suburb.

The main road into Wedderburn, Wedderburn Road, has a low bridge called a causeway. This bridge can flood when there is heavy rain, which sometimes makes Wedderburn feel cut off from other areas.

To the south of the suburb, there is a small place for planes called Wedderburn Airport. It is used by the New South Wales Sports Aircraft Club.

History of Wedderburn

Wedderburn was first home to the Tharawal people. European settlers started moving into the area in the 1880s. They cleared the land and planted orchards, which are still used today.

The first bridge in Wedderburn was built in 1892. A school and a post office opened in 1896. Electricity did not arrive in Wedderburn until 1952.

Today, people are working to protect the natural areas around Wedderburn. The Campbelltown Council wants to make O'Hare's Creek Gorge, which is to the east, a national park.
