Weesaw Township is a community located in Berrien County, in the U.S. state of Michigan. In 2020, about 1,832 people lived here. The township was officially started in 1837. It was named after Weesaw, a local chief from the Potawatomi Native American tribe.
Communities in Weesaw Township
Weesaw Township is home to a couple of smaller communities:
- New Troy is a small, unincorporated community. This means it's not a separate town with its own government, but it's a recognized place. It is located near the east branch of the Galien River. New Troy has its own ZIP code, which is 49119.
- Glendora is another unincorporated community in the township. It is about 10 miles northwest of Niles. It is also about 15 miles south of St. Joseph. Glendora was founded in 1890. It even had its own post office from 1891 until 1966. Railroad officials gave the community the name "Glendora."
