Wei Chuan Foods (Chinese: 味全食品; pinyin: Wèiquán; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Bī-chôan) is a big company from Taiwan. They make many different kinds of Chinese food products. These include sauces, canned foods, drinks, and frozen meals. Some of their well-known products are pickled cucumbers, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and frozen dumplings and wontons.

The Story of Wei Chuan Foods
Wei Chuan Foods started in 1953. It was founded by Huang Lieh-ho. The company first made MSG and soy sauce. Their goal was to make everyday life better for people.
In the early 1960s, Wei Chuan began making dairy products. They believed this would help people get better nutrition. It also helped the economy in rural areas. Because of this, Huang Lieh-ho is sometimes called the "Father of the dairy industry" in Taiwan.
Wei Chuan grew into a large food company. By the 1960s and 1970s, it was the biggest food company in Taiwan.
In 1998, a company called Ting Hsin International Group became the main owner of Wei Chuan. The original founding family sold their shares. This led to Wei Chuan and Wei-Chuan USA becoming separate companies. They now have different owners. In Taiwan, Wei Chuan was often seen as a main competitor to another big company, Uni-President Enterprises Corporation.
Wei-Chuan USA: Food Across the Ocean
The Wei-Chuan USA part of the company started in 1972. It has factories and distribution centers in many US cities. These include Jersey City, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, and Tennessee.
Wei-Chuan USA makes similar products to the company in Taiwan. Their company logo has five red balls. These balls stand for the five basic flavors we taste.
Wei Chuan and Sports
Wei Chuan used to sponsor a professional baseball team. The team was called the Wei Chuan Dragons. They were very successful and won many championships. However, the team was stopped in 1999. This happened after Ting Hsin International became the new main owner of Wei Chuan.
Good news for fans came in 2019. Wei Chuan announced that the Dragons baseball team would return! The team re-joined the Taiwanese Baseball League in 2020.
