Wellington is a city in Lafayette County, Missouri. It is part of the larger Kansas City metropolitan area in the United States. The city is about 35 miles east of Kansas City. In 2020, about 738 people lived there.

History of Wellington
Wellington was founded in 1837. It was named after Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington. He was a British commander known for the Battle of Waterloo. A post office opened in Wellington in 1840.
Geography of Wellington
Wellington covers a total area of about 1.13 square miles (2.92 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a small part being water.
The city is located a few miles east of Napoleon, Missouri. Both towns were named after important commanders from the Battle of Waterloo. There is also a small area called "Waterloo" located between Wellington and Napoleon.
