Wendy Mae Chambers is an American composer born on January 24, 1953. She lives in Harvey Cedars, New Jersey. Wendy is known for creating very unique and large-scale music events. She also plays and writes music for the toy piano!

Early Life and Music Studies

Wendy studied music at Barnard College from 1971 to 1975. She earned her first degree there. Later, she continued her studies at Stony Brook University in New York. She got her master's degree in music composition between 1975 and 1977.

Creating Big Music Events

Wendy's ideas for huge music events came from artists like Christo and Andy Warhol. These artists created big, public art projects. Wendy wanted her music to reach more people, not just those who usually go to concerts. She knew the famous composer John Cage. Her piece 12 squared for twelve percussionists was even written to remember him. By putting her music in public places, she helped more people enjoy it.

The Toy Piano Queen

Wendy is also famous for her amazing skills with the toy piano. In 1994, The New York Times newspaper called her "possibly the world's foremost virtuoso on the toy piano." This means she might be the best toy piano player in the world!
