Wesley Deshawn Iwundu (born December 20, 1994) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for Promitheas Patras in the Greek Basketball League (GBL). Before turning pro, he played college basketball for the Kansas State Wildcats.

College Basketball Journey
Wes Iwundu was recruited by coach Bruce Weber to play for Kansas State. He came from Westfield High School in Houston. Wes quickly became a starter for the team. He set a new record for the Wildcats by starting 124 games in his college career.
Wes was part of a group of five talented players who joined Kansas State in 2013. However, he was the only one who stayed with the team for more than two seasons. He was recognized as one of the best players in the Big 12 Conference. He earned a spot on the third-team All-Big 12 in both his junior and senior years. In his final college season, Wes averaged 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career
After finishing his college career, Wes Iwundu was invited to the 2017 NBA draft combine. This event allows young players to show off their skills to NBA teams.
Joining the Orlando Magic (2017–2020)
In the 2017 NBA draft, the Orlando Magic picked Wes Iwundu in the second round. He was the 33rd player chosen overall. This made him the first Kansas State player to be drafted into the NBA since 2008. Wes signed a three-year contract with the Magic.
Playing for the Dallas Mavericks (2020–2021)
On December 1, 2020, Wes Iwundu signed with the Dallas Mavericks. He played for them for a short period.
Moving to the New Orleans Pelicans (2021)
On March 26, 2021, Wes was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans. He moved there along with another player, James Johnson, and a draft pick. In return, the Mavericks received JJ Redick and Nicolò Melli. Later that year, on August 7, 2021, Wes was traded to the Charlotte Hornets. However, he was released by the Hornets before the season began.
Time with the Atlanta Hawks (2021–2022)
On December 23, 2021, Wes Iwundu signed a short 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks.
With the Cleveland Charge (2022)
On January 25, 2022, the Cleveland Charge picked up Wes. This team is part of the NBA G League. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury that ended his season. He was released by the team on April 1.
Playing for the Stockton Kings (2022–2023)
Wes signed a training camp contract with the Portland Trail Blazers on September 23, 2022. He was released on October 7. On November 3, 2022, Wes was named to the opening-night roster for the Stockton Kings. This is another team in the NBA G League.
Playing in Germany with Rasta Vechta (2023–2024)
For the 2023–24 season, Wes Iwundu moved to Germany. He signed with Rasta Vechta, a team in the German Basketball Bundesliga.

Wes Iwundu has family roots in Nigeria. In 2021, there were discussions about him possibly playing for the Nigeria national basketball team. This would have given him a chance to represent Nigeria in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
