Wesleys Creek (which is ruisseau Wesleys in French) is a small stream, like a mini-river, in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It flows through two different areas: Central Frontenac and Tay Valley. This creek is part of a much larger water system called the Ottawa River drainage basin. This means all the water from Wesleys Creek eventually flows into the Ottawa River.
Where Wesleys Creek Starts and Ends
Wesleys Creek begins in an area called Tay Valley. It starts when two smaller, unnamed streams meet together. This starting point is quite high up, at about 212 meters (or 696 feet) above sea level.
From there, the creek flows for about 7 kilometers (4.3 miles). It travels southwest for a bit, then enters Central Frontenac. The creek takes a few turns, going northwest, then southwest, then south, and finally southeast.
Its journey ends when it reaches Silver Lake. At this point, the creek is at a lower elevation of 178 meters (584 feet) above sea level.
The Journey of the Water
The water from Wesleys Creek doesn't stop at Silver Lake. It continues its journey through a series of other waterways:
- First, it flows out of Silver Lake through Silver Lake Creek.
- Then, it joins the Fall River.
- After that, it flows into the Mississippi River.
- Finally, the water from all these rivers reaches Lac des Chats, which is a lake on the main Ottawa River.
So, even though Wesleys Creek is small, its water travels a long way to reach the Ottawa River!
