Station History and Facts
West Croydon station first opened its doors on 5 June 1839. Back then, it was just called "Croydon." It got its current name, "West Croydon," in April 1851. The station is owned by Network Rail and managed by London Overground.
Important Moments at West Croydon
In 1912, a famous composer named Samuel Colridge Taylor became very ill at West Croydon station. He was suffering from pneumonia and was very tired from working too much. Sadly, he passed away at his home a few days later.
