West Swan is a suburb found in Perth, Western Australia. It's part of the City of Swan local government area. This area is located west of the Swan River. It's also east of the place that used to be the Caversham Airfield.
The main road, West Swan Road, goes right through the suburb. This road is important for the Swan Valley winery region. In 2016, about 899 people lived in West Swan.
A Look Back at West Swan's Past
West Swan is on the western side of the Swan River. A very important spot in this area is the Caversham Airfield. Today, it's known as the Middle Swan Airfield military facility.
This airfield was first built in 1943. It was created to help protect Australia during World War II. After the war, the airfield became a motor racing track. It hosted big events like the Australian Grand Prix. It also held the Six Hour Le Mans endurance race from 1955 to 1968.
